MSRC 2015 ELECTIONS

Each academic year all positions on the MSRC committee are re-elected by the students of the University of Leeds School of Medicine.  Only students who have served as part of the committee are able to run for executive positions:

  • President
  • Vice President 
  • Treasurer 
  • Secretary  

All other seats on the committee are open to medical students who have not previously served as part of the committee. Below are the available positions with job descriptions. Being part of MSRC can carry great responsibility whether it being responsible for the generation of publicity to help fund our clubs and societies or whether it be representing the opinions and thoughts of your colleagues at module management meetings. If you are unsure of whether being part of MSRC is for you, then try to speak to our current committee by using the contact us page.  

Important dates for your diary:

  • 19/02/15- candidate registration opens (see registration form below), you can only campaign once you have registered to run in the elections
  • 09/03/15- candidate registration closes
  • 16/03/15- executive campaign videos are released and the voting polls open
  • 20/03/15- 13:00-14:00 MLT- MSRC & MEDSOC election video premier (results will be announced at 17:00

Available Positions

  • Careers rep- responsible for organisation of NHS bursary support lectures, the annual careers fair, electives fair and the integration between different healthcare disciplines.
  • Societies rep- responsible for assisting societies in MSRC funding applications, working with societies to publicise events via the new MSRC online calendar, the assessment of new society applications and together with the sports rep, the organisation of the 2015 medics freshers fair.
  • Publicity reps (x2)- responsible for organisation of the 2015 medics business fair, production of and distribution of the MSRC monthly newsletter, distribution of the quarterly 'you said and we did' document, generation of of sponsorship, running of the Unofficial Guide to Medicine discount scheme, and promotion of MSRC events to staff and students. 
  • MUMS rep (x2)- responsible for the allocation of medic 'kids' with medic 'parents', the organisation of one club night and one social night per semester and the general running and organisation associated with the support scheme. 
  • Mature student rep- responsible for the welcome and support event for mature students during 2015 Freshers week, the organisation of an additional 3 mature student events throughout the academic year and to act as a contact of support for mature students and help to signpost them to the correct resource/ work with the Med School to resolve the issue.
  • International student rep- responsible for the welcome and support event for international students during 2015 Freshers week, the organisation of an additional 3 international student events throughout the academic year and to act as a contact of support for international students and help to signpost them to the correct resource/ work with the Med School to resolve the issue.
  • IT rep- responsible for maintaining the new MSRC website and online resources, managing the design and production of the MSRC Freshers Handbook and Sponsors Brochure and the filming/production of the MSRC RBS ESSA entry and welcome video. 
  • Year group and intercalating Reps (x3 per year group)- responsible for attending student feedback meetings, the communication of specific issues between staff and students, liaising with staff for important dates to be entered into the online MSRC calendar. 
  • Bradford transfer rep- responsible for the welcome and support event for Bradford transfer students during 2015 Freshers week, the organisation of an additional 3 Bradford transfer student events throughout the academic year and to act as a contact of support for Bradford transfer students and help to signpost them to the correct resource/ work with the Med School to resolve the issue.
  • Sports rep- responsible for assisting sports clubs in MSRC funding applications, working with sports clubs to publicise events via the new MSRC online calendar, the assessment of new sports club applications and together with the societies rep, the organisation of the 2015 medics freshers fair
